A Hidden Secret: Synthetic Vitamin C impairs your muscle's mitochondrial function and cause other medical problems

by Dr. Gerald H. Smith

Synthetic vitamin C works like a drug and like all drugs they can potentially disrupt normal metabolic functions often with devastating side effects. There is no evidence that people who take high potency synthetic vitamin supplements are doing better than those who don't. In fact, there are many indications that synthetic vitamin supplementation may actually shorten life span and may even increase cancer probability. To add insult to injury, most conventionally trained doctors will tell you that there is no difference between a "synthetic" and a "natural" vitamin molecule. The truth is that food based supplements contain biophotons which synthetic vitamins do not. The body uses biophotons for repair and normal function.

A recent article in the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition (Vol. 87, No. 1, 142-149) reveals that synthetic supplementation with vitamin C ascorbate devastates the muscle, causing impairment in mitochondrial function, loss of endurance, and inhibition of the body's own antioxidant enzymes superoxide dismutase (SOD) and glutathione peroxide. The following referenced scientific journals substantiate additional adverse side effects:

  1. Megadoses of vitamin C (ascorbic acid) can weaken red blood cells leading to their breakdown and release of hemoglobin and other contents into the surrounding fluid. (Annual of Internal Medicine, 82:810, 1975; Annual of Internal Medicine, 84:490, 1976; Blood, 49:471, 1977.
  2. Megadoses of vitamin C (ascorbic acid) will irritate the gastrointestinal lining. (New England Journal of Medicine, 285:635, 1971).
  3. Megadoses of vitamin C (ascorbic acid) can lead to calcification in the kidneys. (Lancet, 2:201, 1973.

Since synthetic ascorbic acid is a hexose (a six-carbon simple sugar), consuming large doses has the great potential to adversely affect the beta cells (insulin-producing cells) of the pancreas. People with diabetes will actually get worse by consuming mega doses of synthetic vitamin C. Also patients with cancer will feed their cancer by taking the hexose sugar.

Joseph Goebbels, Hitlers Minister of Propaganda was right. “If you tell a big enough lie long enough people will believe you.” As non robots, our health is programmed to thrive on natural whole food nutrients, instead of high potency chemicals or synthetics.
